Anderson confident over England chances

England fastbowler James Anderson believes the Three Lions have what it takes to win the Twenty20 World Cup next month.

England head into the tournament as underdogs for the top prize having failed to set the world alight in the shortest format of the game so far, with Betfair pricing them at 11/1 to win the top prize.

The Three Lions have failed to reach the semi-final stage of the competition since they began holding world Twenty20 tournaments in 2007.

Clarke backs resurgent Aussies

Michael Clarke believes Australia have put their poor Twenty20 performances behind them and are now capable of becoming world champions this year.

The Aussies have a receded record in the Twenty20 World Cup, being dumped out by Zimbabwe in 2007 before failing to get out of their group at last year’s tournament.

However, with Clarke now in charge following Ricky Ponting’s decision to step down as captain Australia have seen a marked improvement in their Twenty20 results.

There may have been some criticism of Alastair Cook’s captaincy during the ODI and Test series against Bangladesh, but former captain Michael Vaughan believes that the 25-year-old has done well.

Cook smashed his 12th Test century on Wednesday as England wrapped up a 2-0 series win against the hosts.

Speaking after the victory, Vaughan stated; “I liked what I saw in terms of him batting and being the leader.”

England seamer Steve Finn says he is confident England will wrap up the first Test of the series against Bangladesh despite the Tigers stubborn determination.

The tourists head into day five in Chittagong needing to take five more wickets to be sure of victory after a tough fourth day which saw Junaid Siddique (68 not out) and Mushfiqur Rahim (47 not out) block out the day.

Bangladesh remain 321 runs behind and look content to try and block their way to what would be a respectable draw against a nation they have never beaten.
