Sprint stars go head-to-head

Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt (9/50 to win) and Asafa Powell (7/2) will go head-to-head over 100m for the first time this year on Friday in the Diamond League meeting in Paris.

The pair share the fastest time in the world this year of 9.82 seconds with Bolt setting his time in Lausanne last week after an Achilles tendon injury.

But world record holder Bolt believes he can go faster in Paris.

Button backs new set-up

McLaren’s Jenson Button is at 7/1 to win the world drivers’ championship and believes the new diffuser system on his car will help him keep up with the faster Red Bull’s, which dominated qualification at last week’s British Grand Prix.

Button finished in fourth place at Silverstone despite reverting back to the car set-up used at the European Grand Prix in Valencia.

Red Bull chased hard by Ferrari

Mark Webber (8.8 to win the 2010 Drivers’ Championship) was quickest in second practice for the British Grand Prix, although the Red Bull driver was chased hard by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

Webber, currently fourth in the drivers’ standings, clocked one minute 31.234 seconds at Silverstone, with Alonso just 0.392 seconds behind.

Kubica given new Renault deal

Red Bull flying again with Webber

Mark Webber will be on pole position for Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix after he kept up Red Bull’s domination of qualifying this season.

For a sixth race in a row, it will be a Milton Keynes-based driver at the front of the grid following Webber’s effort of one minute 13.826 seconds around the track.

His qualification time means he is now red hot favourite to make it two victories from two.
