Smith revels in Wolves' display

Coach Tony Smith was delighted with the way Warrington Wolves managed to lift their performance to beat Wigan Warriors in the Super League at the DW Stadium on Friday night (Wolves 3.75 – 2010 Regular Season Winner with Betfair).

It was all looking good for the home side as they stormed into an 6-0 lead, but Wolves hit back to take a four-point lead into the break thanks to tries from Chris Hicks and Richie Myler.

Rhinos suffer Burrow blow

Leeds Rhinos (4.1 with Betfair to win Super League Grand Final) could be without scrum half Rob Burrow for up to 12 weeks after the club confirmed he suffered a serious knee injury in the win over Wakefield last weekend.

Man of Steel to leave Huddersfield Giants

The reigning Super League Man of Steel Brett Hodgson is set to leave the Huddersfield Giants at the end of the season.

 

The 32-year-old Huddersfield captain had been offered a new one-year contract at the Galpharm Stadium, but he has rejected that and is widely expected to join Super League rivals Warrington Wolves from 2011 on a two-year deal.

Smith back for Leeds clash with Bradford

Lee Smith is set to play his first game since returning to Leeds Rhinos on Thursday evening against local rivals Bradford Bulls, and coach Brian McClennan is convinced that he will slot straight back into the side.

Smith is coming back after an aborted spell in rugby union with Wasps. He played his last game for the Rhinos six months ago against St Helens in the Engage Super League final. He scored two tries in that game, helping Leeds lift the crown as they secured an 18-10 win.
